The Pearl Hotel, San Diego

September may mean it's cooling down in most of North America, but it's only heating up in San Diego! What's the best way to escape a heat wave? A pool, of course! We recently checked ourselves into The Pearl Hotel, a super cool mid-century mod hotel near the beach in San Diego. With rates that are actually reasonable (when does that happen?), this is definitely an awesome place to stay if you want to get social in SoCal.

The pool at The Pearl is one of the places to be in SD, and you can visit even if you're not staying there! With a lively atmosphere, cool bar, and cooler patrons, you'll totally love the vibe. Every week there's a "Dive In Theatre" where fun movies like Zoolander are played poolside (and the bar is definitely open).

The rooms are bright, open, and modern, and a total steal if you want your own suite (we're talking less than $200 a night here). They provide you with a Google Maps link to some of the best spots around, but you can also check out our neighbourhoods guides!

One of our favorite things was our pet for the night, a fish named Bruce Lee. Amazing.

The Pearl is a place to be social, meet people, and be entertained. We love the cozy nooks for reading or board games, and the large succulent loving outdoor table.

EAT at The Pearl is also a fabulous restaurant and bar that's bumping every night and filled with both locals and visitors, so you can meet new friends from everywhere. Even better, the menu is made up of eclectic dishes that feature seasonal, local ingredients.

All in all, The Pearl is totally cool and we definitely want to return (and not just for the AC in a heat wave). It's SO refreshing to see a cool, hip, and modern spot that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to stay at every night. No pretentiousness here, just good vibes.

We hope you love The Pearl as much as we do! Just FYI, we got a discount on our stay for this post.
