Exploring the Sunshine Coast in Powell River, BC

British Columbia's Sunshine Coast is a unique gem in the province where you can find small-town treasures with big city luxuries like...really great beer. We took the ferry from Comox on Vancouver Island over to Powell River on the Sunshine Coast and had a wonderful time at the local brewery, Townsite Brewing

Townsite Brewing in Powell River, BC

We loved this stop on BC's Ale Trail, because Townsite Brewing is all about the Belgian beers! Cedric, the brewmaster, is from Belgium and he is all about bringing the Belgian beer to the west coast. And nothing says summer like a fresh Belgian beer! Visit the tasting room to fill up your growler, grab a pint, or buy some of their amazing, local ceramic beer glasses.

Where to Stay in Powell River, BC

If you're looking for where to stay in Powell River, look no further than The Old Courthouse Inn. How amazingly retro is this place?! We quickly fell in love with it, and they have the friendliest staff to help you find all of Powell River's gems.

Each room has so much character to it, you really feel like you've stepped into a storybook. Thanks to their staff, we discovered that you can rent bikes near the main strip to explore the city on two wheels, or take a stroll along the water nearby. There's lots of hikes in close proximity, so be sure to ask them what's best!

While we were in Powell River it was a bit of a rainy day, but that didn't stop us from exploring a bit! Good ole British Columbia, it's always so beautiful, even on the gloomiest of days.
